Suspect Arrested Two Years After Maurice Wilson's Brutal Murder

Almost two years following the brutal death of 18-year-old Maurice Wilson, Chesapeake Police have made an arrest. The victim's mother, Rebecca Gatewood Wilson, spoke about the murder of her son and the arrest of Nathan Thompson, 19, who faces charges for Maurice's death. Despite Maurice and his mother's active stand against gun violence, unfortunately, Maurice still fell victim to it.

On September 8th, 2021, Maurice's life was tragically ended when he was discovered shot dead in the center of Pacels Way. At the time, the high-school student was also dual-enrolled at TCC, coming close to finishing his degree - merely three credits short at the time of his death. His mother remembered him as having genuine passion for various fields, including drawing, finance, and real estate.

Maurice's mother conveyed mixed feelings following the arrest. She is thankful for Chesapeake Police's hard work but the reality of her son's death continues to sadden her. She retains hope for justice, despite knowing it will not bring her son back. The court is yet to deliver a verdict on Thompson's charges, which include homicide, robbery, and illegal firearm possession.
