Police: Bayonne man, 34, arrested for Tuesday evening shots fired incident
A 34-year-old Bayonne man has been arrested for a Tuesday evening shots fired incident where no one was injured, according to Police Capt. Eric Amato. Willard Maddox, 34, of Bayonne, was charged with aggravated assault possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a firearm, certain persons not to possess a firearm, obstructing a governmental function, and a contempt warrant out of East Orange, Amato said in a statement.
Bayonne cracking down on illegal apartment rentals
Bayonne is continuing its crackdown on illegally rented apartments and Airbnbs with an ordinance that would curtail the rental of individual rooms in a home. The ordinance up for a final reading Wednesday would prevent homeowners from installing locks on bedroom doors and renting out the individual rooms without first bringing the buildings up to code, an issue that officials said they have identified citywide.
Two Greenville Gang Members Indicted by Feds for Murder and Drug Dealing
Two members of a Jersey City gang based in Greenville have been indicted in connection with with a conspiracy that included a murder, a shooting, and narcotics distribution. According to U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger, Kenneth Harrigan, aka “Kenny,” aka “Kenny OGM,” 27, and Darion Canary, aka “Goon,” 31, both of Jersey City, and at least one other gang member, traveled to the territory of a rival gang in Jersey City on July 20, 2019 and shot three victims, killing one of them.
