Authorities Arrest Man Accused of Rape in Banning
A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of raping a victim incapable of consent and rape by force or fear, Banning authorities announced Saturday. The Banning Police Department received a call from a woman who recognized Steven Roy McElroy from a news release related to an arrest and reported that she and another woman were sexually assaulted by McElroy on or about 2015 to 2016 in his Grand Terrace home on separate occasions.

CHINO HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Four people were killed early Sunday in a wrong-way collision involving several vehicles on a freeway east of Los Angeles, authorities said. The crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. in southbound lanes of State Route 71 in Chino Hills after several people called 911 to report a car traveling the wrong direction, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Grand Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of a Controlled Substance
On Thursday, March 16, 2023, the La Quinta Special Enforcement Team (SET) served a property related search warrant at the 26000 block of Bruce Street, in Highland. The search warrant stemmed from multiple grand theft incidents that were reported on March 01,2023. The incidents occurred at two businesses located at the 78000 and 79000 block of Highway 111, in La Quinta. The businesses had also reported similar thefts at their other locations out of the area. Arrested was Huy Nhat Pham, 32 of Highland, for grand theft, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia . Approximately $3,200 worth of stolen merchandise was recovered. Pham was booked at the John J. Benoit Detention Center.

Attempted Homicide – Conspiracy to Commit Assault with a Firearm
On Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 5:15 PM, deputies responded to the 340 block of Shaver Street, in San Jacinto to investigate reports of a shooting that just occurred. Upon their arrival, they discovered an occupied residential structure was struck by gunfire. Investigators responded and assumed the investigation. During their investigation they learned a group of individuals arrived in a silver Dodge sedan and had a confrontation with other individuals at the residence. During the confrontation an individual who arrived in the Dodge sedan fired several rounds from a firearm at the residence hitting the building but did not hit anyone with gunfire. During their investigation the investigators identified several persons of interest and began searching for them.
Spring Begins Today And More Rain Expected
After three days of sunshine, the pattern is about to change once again as another storm moves in from the Pacific Ocean. This will produce periods of rain for the Treasure Valley on today (Monday) with highs near 50 degrees. The mountains will see snow for much of the day where I’m expecting about 3-8” of additional snow. Then, the Drier air will move into the area on Tuesday. Look for partly cloudy skies and highs in the low 50’s. The drier conditions will hang around on Wednesday and Thursday. However, we should see another storm by the end of the week. Additional snow will fall in the mountains and periods of rain will occur in the Valley.
