Pedestrian struck and killed by bus at Boston’s Logan Airport

BOSTON — A pedestrian was struck and killed by an arriving bus at a terminal at Logan International Airport late Monday afternoon, State Police have confirmed.

State Police identify the victim as Vishwachand Kolla, 47, of Lexington.

The fatal crash occurred at 5 p.m. on the Terminal B Lower Roadway at Logan Airport, state police said.

A preliminary investigation indicates that an adult male was struck by a motor coach owned by Dartmouth Transportation Company of Concord, N.H. The victim suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.

“I’m like what happened.. to find out that someone lost their life tonight that affects somebody.. especially to know that you’re here the same place and it could have been you,” said Laura Vandiver, Logan Airport passenger.

For those passengers who were on board the bus when the accident happened were moved onto another bus, and more than three hours later – the bus owned by Dartmouth Transportation Company out of Concord, New Hampshire, was towed from the scene.

“Our deepest sympathies are with everyone impacted by this evening’s incident at Logan Airport. We’re working in conjunction with the Massachusetts State Police and Massport to gather further information,” said a spokesperson for Dartmouth Coach.

The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by Troop F of the Massachusetts State Police, the State Police Detective Unit for Suffolk County, and the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Sections.
