UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION THEY FOUND HE HAD SEVERAL STAB WOUNDS AND SENT THE 41-YEAR-OLD TO GOOD SAMARITAN HOSPITAL. THAT’S WHERE HE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD BECAUSE OF HIS INJURIES. POLICE WERE ON THEIR WAY TO INVESTIGATE A ROBBERY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THE BROCKTON POLICE DEPARTMENT IS WORKING WITH THE STATE POLICE AND PLYMOUTH COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE FOR THE -- THIS INVESTIGATION. AND POLICE ARE NOT IDENTIFYING THE VICTIM UNTIL HIS NEXT OF KIN IS NOTIFIED. THIS INVESTIGATION IS STILL OPEN.

Authorities are identifying the 41-year-old Massachusetts man who died after he was stabbed early Saturday morning in Brockton.Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz said Monday that 41-year-old John Cabral, of Brockton, was found suffering from multiple stab wounds in the area of 51 Belmont Ave. shortly before 4:40 a.m.According to Cruz, Cabral was found by Brockton police officers who were driving down Belmont Avenue while they were investigating a cellphone robbery.Cabral was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he died of his injuries. The state's Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of Cabral's death. The stabbing is being investigated by Brockton police and the Massachusetts State Police detective unit assigned to Cruz's office. Cruz said that at this time, the stabbing does not appear to be a random act of violence.Related story:
