BROWNSVILLE, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — Police seized firearms, drugs and cash during a search of a Brownsville residence near a children’s daycare center.

On Wednesday, the Brownsville Police Department Special Investigations Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at a residence at the zero block of Western Blvd after concerns of “suspicious activities” from the community.

Police determined the residence was involved in the sale of drugs, and that 37-year-old Adrian Jaramillo Jr. who resided at the residence, had multiple felony warrants, police said.

That evening, agents were conducting surveillance when Jaramillo was seen leaving the residence in a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Pedro Antonio Castillo, the release stated.

Officers attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, but Castillo refused, leading police on a pursuit. The pursuit resulted in “several minor collisions,” police said.

The chase ended at the 500 block of W. Elizabeth Street, where both Castillo and Jaramillo evaded on foot. They were apprehended and taken into custody.

“The swift and decisive action of the Narcotics Unit not only disrupted illegal operations but also ensured the safety and security of the neighborhood, particularly a nearby church and a children’s daycare center,” police said.
