Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s deputies looking for suspect who led deputies on chase
CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – The Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who led deputies on a chase Monday afternoon. Deputies with the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office saw Austin T. Burton, 26, who is confirmed to have a federal warrant driving a vehicle southbound on US Highway 61 in Fruitland around 2:11 p.m. on Monday, March 27.
Shots Fired on South Ellis, suspect arrested
On Thursday, officers with the Cape Girardeau Police Department responded to the 1100-block of South Ellis Street in reference to shots fired around 11:00 p.m. Officers arrived on scene and located evidence along with a subject identified as 26-year-old Antwan Petty, of Cape Girardeau. Through the investigation of the officers, they were able to determine Petty fired a weapon in the area. Officers also located and recovered the firearm that was allegedly used. Petty is currently being held on a $25,000 cash bond for Class E Felony of Unlawful Use of a Weapon. The Cape Girardeau Police Department encourages citizens to report any type of crime they see in their neighborhood.
Cape K-9 police vehicle stolen and recovered
On Thursday at about 11:00 p.m., officers responded to the 1100 Block of S. Ellis in reference to shots fired. Due to the seriousness of the incident and the very real potential for violence/loss of life, one of the officers quickly exited his patrol car and approached the scene. The officer reported that when he exited his vehicle he attempted to lock his patrol car; however, he is unsure if the door lock engaged. Upon returning to where his patrol car was parked, the officer observed his patrol car missing. The officers immediately began searching for the vehicle and it was located about one mile away from the scene. The vehicle was undamaged, and no equipment was stolen from the vehicle. The vehicle belonged to a K-9 officer and K-9 Jango was inside the patrol vehicle at the time. K-9 Jango was located inside the vehicle at the time the officers retrieved it uninjured. 59-year-old Gregory Ross, of Cape Girardeau, was identified as the suspect that stole the officers patrol vehicle. Ross was taken into custody and charged through the Cape Girardeau County Prosecutor’s Office for felony first degree tampering and felony stealing. Ross is currently being held on a $10,000 cash only bond.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - Cape Girardeau Police responded around 12 p.m. to a shots fired incident near South Middle Street on Sunday, March 26. According to police, when officers arrived, they found several gun shell casings in the area. They also found a vehicle with possible damage from the gunfire.
