Local ski areas to celebrate closing days with festive parties on the slopes
Springtime means raucous parties, neon onesies and spirited competitions, as local ski areas wrap up operations for the season. Buttermilk Mountain will shut down first, celebrating the end of the season with “Bacon Appreciation Day” this Sunday. Skiers and riders will find treats all over the mountain — as well as a few people in bacon-themed costumes.

According to the Eagle County Sheriff's Office, the body of Josue Isai Cruz Del Cid, 30, was found on the western side of Lake Christine by investigators on the evening of March 22. City of Glenwood Springs awarded $1 million grant for Blake Avenue reconstruction
The City of Glenwood Springs was awarded a $1 million grant by the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) for their upcoming reconstruction project on Blake Avenue. The $1 million grant funds come from state severance tax proceeds and will pay for utility upgrades on Blake Avenue, which will make up part of a larger set of restorations and improvements for the street.

Local woman’s death determined accidental
Gunnison County coroner Michael Barnes this week said 34-year-old Kelsey Boleski’s death was ruled an accident. Boleski died March 3. She was discovered that Sunday morning in the snow south of Crested Butte near Riverland after a major storm cycle. Barnes said the cause of death was alcohol and drug intoxication with a significant factor being hypothermia. The manner of death was ruled accidental.
Six units at The Gant left 'uninhabitable' following Tuesday early morning blaze
Six privately owned units at The Gant were left “currently uninhabitable” following a fire early Tuesday morning. Aspen Fire Protection District personnel were dispatched at 5:14 a.m. after occupants of a unit reported smoke billowing from the one above them at 610 S. West End St. According to an Aspen Fire news release, the first-arriving unit reported the three-story multifamily condo complex had smoke showing.
