Stafford Sheriff’s Office called this a Game of Thorns
A suspected car thief learned “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” as his escape path was impeded by a wall of thorns early Sunday. At 12:54 a.m. today Deputy R.T. Philippsen observed a stolen Toyota RAV4 exit Garrison Woods subdivision. The driver stopped at a nearby residence on Aquia Avenue and Deputies S.C. Jett and E.T. Osborn moved into position for a high-risk encounter.
Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce receives grant from GO Virginia
Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce receives grant from GO Virginia. From the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce:. The Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce has been awarded $230,000 in grant funding from GO Virginia. The funds will be used to build upon the Chamber’s workforce development programming, Workforce NOW. In partnership with businesses, schools, both secondary and post-secondary, the funding will focus on planning and implementation of Intern Expo’s, hosting workforce and intern workshops, and supporting workforce volunteers and Chamber staff in their efforts within the workforce development arena. The funding will be matched with in-kind and cash contributions from local partners and the FXBG Chamber.

Two Stafford men got into a bit of a pickle after the larceny of a vehicle. Lucky for them, Rappahannock Regional Jail serves three meals a day. On March 16th at approximately 2:02 p.m. deputies were in the area of Burger King, located at 269 Garrisonville Road, but not for a late lunch. They observed a vehicle that was reported stolen on March 11th from the Staffordboro Commuter Lot currently in the shopping center. When First Sergeant J.D. Floirendo arrived, the stolen vehicle was unoccupied and parked in front of the Tobacco Hut, located at 253 Garrisonville Road. Deputies decided to surveil the vehicle until the driver returned.
One Occupant Flown Out After Single Vehicle Crash
CLEMENTS, Md – On Sunday March 19, 2023 at approximately 3:35 a.m., first responders were called to a scene in the area of Colton Point Rd in Clements for reports that a single vehicle had gone off the roadway. Upon arrival, crews discovered there was only one occupant involved.
Shoulder widening begins this week in Stafford
VDOT says a combined safety and resurfacing project on Kellogg Mill Road in Stafford County will begin this week to slightly widen shoulders and deliver a smoother travel surface. Starting Monday, March 20, motorists can expect mobile lane closures and one-way, alternating traffic. Work will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday thru Friday.

Patrol Officer Recovers Loaded Firearm During Traffic Stop In Waldorf
WALDORF, Md. – On March 14 at 9:14 p.m., a patrol officer initiated a traffic stop on St. Charles Parkway and Gallery Place in Waldorf after observing a traffic violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana and raw marijuana. Further investigation revealed the driver was in possession of marijuana and a loaded firearm which was not registered.

More charges against arson suspect in Caroline
The Caroline Sheriff’s Office says after further investigation, fire investigators collected evidence directly linking Joshua Harper to the fire of an abandoned residence that occurred in Caroline County on November 29, 2021. This fire was suspicious in nature and under investigation by fire investigators. Following this information, further investigation found evidence linking Harper to suspicious fires in other jurisdictions. Fire investigators are currently working with authorities in those jurisdictions and additional charges are expected to be placed against Harper. Caroline fire investigators obtained an additional charge of arson against Harper on Tuesday for the November 29, 2021, fire in Caroline County. Harper continues to be held without bond at Pamunkey Regional Jail.

Description: The building faces southwest and is a one story red colored brick structure. The brick is laid in Flemish bond with arched windows. The building is located on landscaped grounds to the west of the courthouse in the center of the city. The south side has a square brick tower with arched entrance on the first story and open belfry at the top. The building was partly burned by the British in 1814 and served as the courthouse until 1848. In 1875, the building became the Beale Memorial Baptist Church and the belfry was added. In 2004, the building was acquired by the County.
