Hawks fly high through track season
The Blackville-Hilda track and field team finished the 2022-2023 track season on a high note, finishing in second place at the Region 4-A track meet. From there, several individuals advanced to the Upper State Championships. Those qualifying from the Upper State Championships would earn a trip to the “A” State track and field Championships held at Lower Richland High School in Columbia.
CN2 Picture of The Day – Greenwave Win
LANCASTER, S.C. (CN2 NEWS) – On this edition of CN2’s “Picture of The Day”, another win for Fort Mill’s Springfield Greenwave team. They swam Lancaster this past Thursday night at the Wylie Street pool. They’re hanging onto a 6-year winning streak according to coaches.
Coach Pitch All-Stars win travel ball tournament
The Barnwell 7/8 All-Star Coach Pitch team went 4-0 to win an 8u travel ball tournament last weekend. “They were put at a disadvantage by us coaches by only letting them use USA rec ball bats while the other teams were using USSSA travel ball bats. We did this so we could see what kind of team we had and how well they could play because next weekend is our district tournament for rec ball,” said Chris Yancey, one of the coaches. “Super proud of every one of them. They had ups and downs and kept fighting.”
Blue Devils track and field earns postseason awards
The Williston-Elko Blue Devils track and field program continues to improve under head coach Amanda Carter. Williston had a single event qualifier for the State Track and Field Championships a few years ago, then a couple of events last year, and had athletes from three events qualify for the State Championships this year.
Barnwell High sends off 133 Warhorse alumni
Barnwell High School has 133 new alumni after the Class of 2023 galloped away. The Warhorse Class of 2023 took to W.W. Carter Field on Friday evening, May 26, for their commencement ceremony. The class earned an estimated $3,419,527 in scholarships.
54 Blue Devils graduate from Williston-Elko
The topic of “change” was brought up multiple times as Williston-Elko High School sent the Class of 2023 on its way. Commencement ceremonies were held Friday, May 26 on the football field. Family, friends, and educators watched as the 54 graduates accepted their diplomas.
