The death of Doylestown teenager Dominic Testani might remain an open case for another four months as the Office of the Wayne County Coroner awaits test results, officials said Wednesday.

Testani, 18, died early Saturday in an apparent boating accident on Lake Henry in Wayne County. Investigators said the Central Bucks West High School graduate and two friends were out on the lake at 1 a.m. when their boat capsized.

Death ruled an accident, but investigation continues

Rescue teams were unable to locate Testani for 8 hours, officials said. State police ruled the death accidental and an autopsy was performed Monday, said Wayne County Coroner Edward Howell.

"The autopsy is complete, and the case is still pending," Howell said. "In instances such as this when further testing is ordered and completed after the gross anatomy exam, final results are usually available approximately 12 to 18 weeks after the date of the autopsy."

Police were unable to say why the teenager and two friends were on a lake in the middle of the night.

Lake Henry, 100 miles north of Doylestown, is popular with fisherman and campers and is located next to state game lands for hunting.

Funeral services for Dominic Testani

Testani will be laid to rest following a funeral Mass at 3 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Visitation is from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. that afternoon and again Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the church on East State Street in the borough. Internment will be private.

In an obituary, the family reflected on Dominic's desire to join the U.S. Army. He graduated early from high school in January, hoping to start basic training in the spring. Dominic's father Michael Testani is the principal at Linden Elementary School at Central Bucks.

"In what came to be the final six months of Dom’s life on earth, he never wavered with his decision to serve his country," the obituary stated. "He was physically and mentally ready for his next chapter. He had profound respect for the officers involved in his recruitment and was deeply grateful for their mentorship.

"When asked why he chose this path, without hesitation he affirmed, 'I want to be useful with my body.'”
