UNC Asheville Athletics Receives $1 Million Challenge Gift
The UNC Asheville athletics department has received a $1 million transformational gift in the form of a 1:1 matching challenge from two donors — Janice and Joe Brumit and an anonymous family. Both the Brumits and the anonymous family are donating $500,000 each with half of their gifts designated to strengthen the Bulldogs men’s basketball program and the other half supporting initiatives to enhance the student-athlete experience for all 16 of UNC Asheville’s athletic programs at the discretion of Director of Athletics, Janet R. 2023-24 Women's Golf Schedule Announced
ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Golf revealed its 2023-24 schedule today (Monday, June 5), for the program's second season under head coach Ross Cash. The Bulldogs recorded eight top-five finishes in 2022-23, including a run of five straight. Asheville also notched its first-ever individual tournament champion in Madyson Gold, who currently holds several program records. The team turned the program record book upside down this past season, setting a new season scoring average record (304.97), improving its best national ranking in program history 50 spots (147) and also set a new single-season birdies record (246). The team also set a new low round record (286) in the third round of the Jupiter Women's Invitational, and also set new program records in par five scoring (5.2124), par four scoring (4.3715) and par three scoring (3.300). The team also tied the program record for eagles in a single-season (three) and set a new program record for finish percentage in a season at 61.4 percent, breaking the previous record by more than 17 percent. The team also improved its win loss record from 40-74-1 last year to 82-53 this year.
