A Rexford man accused of running over a Montana Highway Patrol trooper in 2023 is set to face trial in April/June?????.Jason Allen Miller, 42, is facing felony charges of attempted deliberate homicide, criminal endangerment, aggravated kidnapping, possession of dangerous drugs and criminal mischief following a Feb. 16, 2023, incident in north Lincoln County. Miller pleaded not guilty to the charges, but he remains locked up in the county Detention Center with his bail set at $1.5 million.Tpr. Rexford man dies in Lincoln Co. vehicle crash
A 56-year-old Rexford man died following a traffic accident on U.S. 93 in Lincoln County near Trego Monday morning.According to Montana Highway Patrol, a 50-year-old Eureka man was driving a Toyota 4Runner south on the highway near mile marker 164.1 when he lost control due to slushy road conditions. The driver overcorrected and the vehicle left the right side of the road. The 4Runner got stuck in the mud and rolled. The Rexford man, who was not wearing a seat belt, died in the crash. The Eureka man, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured.Alcohol, drugs, nor speed were suspected in the crash.
Former Olney Resident Makes Her Iditarod Debut
Former Olney resident Josi Thyr is currently 130 miles from civilization and heading deeper into the Alaska wilderness with 16 canines as companions. Thyr is making her rookie debut at the Iditarod, the iconic 1,000-mile sled dog race that stretches from Anchorage to Nome, Alaska, and has been turning heads in the sled dog world with an impressive string of results leading up to the race. Mush: Flathead Classic draws sled, skijor teams from across the West
The 2024 Flathead Classic was held at the Dog Creek Lodge & Nordic Center in Olney last weekend. Races included skijoring and bikejoring as well as four-dog and six-dog sled teams.Thirty-eight competitors came from British Columbia, Alberta, Montana, Washington and Idaho, including Canadian champions, international skijor champions and several local competitors.Lance Best of Big Arm finished in second place in the four-dog sled team race while Butch Parr of Whitefish finished fifth. Libby Elementary School spelling bee winners
Libby Elementary School recently held their 2024 Spelling Bee for fourth through sixth grade students. The top spellers competed in the Lincoln County Spelling Bee on Feb. 22 in Eureka. The winner of the sixth grade bee was Margaret Smith Salter and the winner of the fourth and fifth grade bee was Samson Skranak. Their teachers are Mr. Brittain and Mrs. Sherbo."Congratulations to these students for their courage and tenacity as well as being impressive spellers!" said Libby Elementary School counselor Brittany Katzer.
