Live music coming to Otter Creek
MOUNT DESERT — There will be live music every Thursday night at the Otter Creek Hall from 4:30-6:30 p.m. starting July 6 and running through the end of August. Derf McKeeton, an Otter Creek resident, will play the guitar and sing a variety of 20th century American music. His repertoire includes rock, country, show tunes, jazz and many of his own compositions.

While tourists to our region head to Mount Desert Island this summer, I’ll be frequenting less busy trails, many on land trust properties. These small but mighty trails have a lot to offer. They, like other trails across the state, need investment to keep them in good condition and accessible. A bill being considered by the Legislature, the Maine Trails Bond (LD 1156), would help with that.

Cartoonists Rights Network International hosted an opening to an editorial cartoon exhibit at Choco-Latte on May 27.
