Mykonos to Cabin John, Guatemalan chicken to the mall, new construction for Park Potomac
This week we’ve got news about yet another addition to the Cabin John Village dining scene — and this time, it’s a familiar name with a 30-year history in Rockville. Mykonos Restaurant, moving into the old Broadway Pizza space, is a new upscale concept from the owners of Mykonos Grill and Gyroland. “This is going to be something unique to the area,” says co-owner Angelo Mitsotakis, who’s aiming to open around year’s end. The menu will include calamari, octopus, Greek salad and other Mykonos favorites, but Mitsotakis says he’s also developing new dishes prepared in an “upgraded and modern” style. He and his wife, Rodi Tzani, are completely reimagining the Broadway space with an open-kitchen format and an indoor/outdoor U-shaped bar. On the other side of the U: a spacious new pergola-topped patio complete with olive trees and a fire pit. And for those concerned about the future of the original Mykonos Grill, Mitsotakis says not to worry: He just signed another long-term lease in Rockville.
