Police ask public for help in department store robbery cases
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD – Detectives from the Major Crimes Division of the Montgomery County Department of Police are currently investigating two thefts committed by seven suspects at different department stores. The suspects reportedly used a stolen black Kia to carry out these crimes. On Friday, April 28, 2023, 2nd District officers attended to a theft report at Sephora in the 5300 block of Western Ave., Chevy Chase. It was revealed that the group of suspects walked into the store, filled shopping bags with merchandise, and left without paying. Montgomery County Police responded to a shooting in the 19000 block of Misty Meadow Terrace in Germantown on Tuesday, May 23. According to MCPD, “At approximately 7:43 p.m., 5th District officers responded to the location for the report of a shooting. Bond $75K for Germantown man accused of stabbing neighbor in back
May 25—Bond was set at $75,000 for a Germantown man accused of shoving his way into a neighbor's apartment late last month and stabbing him in the back during a struggle. Daniel Ray Watts II, 24, appeared Thursday for his arraignment in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court after a grand jury indicted him May 10 for two counts each of aggravated burglary and felonious assault.

Damascus Man Arrested on Multiple Assault Charges in Montgomery County
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD – The Montgomery County Department of Police – 5th District Community Action Team has arrested Julio Melendez, a 26-year-old Damascus resident. Melendez faces four counts each of first-degree assault and reckless endangerment. Officers responded to a reported shooting near a 7-Eleven store on the 12100 block of Snowden Farm Pkwy, on Friday, May 12, 2023. The investigation revealed that Melendez, after a verbal altercation with a group of teenagers, pointed a shotgun at the group and made threats. Officers later located Melendez driving a black Ford Explorer in a residential neighborhood. Ashburn man arrested after Fauquier County 13-year-old overdoses
An Ashburn man has been arrested following the drug overdose of a 13-year-old Fauquier County girl earlier this week, according to a news release. On Tuesday, the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a 13-year-old female that had apparently overdosed on LSD and psilocybin, or “shrooms.” The overdose was not fatal.
Man convicted in fatal Rockville stabbing spree
Montgomery County Circuit Court juries this week convicted a man for murder and for assault of two victims in Rockville, in a stabbing spree that occurred in September 2022. On Monday, a jury found Scorpio Alexander Stanfield, 32, guilty of first-degree assault for the nonfatal stabbing of one victim, according to the State’s Attorney’s Office. On Thursday, a separate jury convicted Stanfield of second-degree murder of Silver Spring resident Jonathan Lawrence Moore, 35.
