Bartow BOE Purchases Tops 3 Million
During the previous Bartow Board of Education meeting the board approved four purchases for a total amount of $3,082,949.57. The largest of these purchases by a resounding amount was the purchase of Dell Latitude 3140 laptops to refresh the middle school 1:1 devices. The total amount for this one purchase was $2,327,500.00, and in addition to the laptops adding a 4-year warranty for the devices. The 4-year warranty was stated to be added so that the board does not have to refresh multiple school band levels in a single year in the future. This item was a budgeted item and will be paid for from the ESSERIII ARP fund.

RTCA Track Competes at Brentwood
Robert Toombs Christian Academy's Varsity Track teams competed at Bulloch Academy on Wednesday, March 15th. It was the first meet of the season and both teams finished 3rd out of nine teams. Senior JaShaun Powell set a new personal record beating his State Championship and GIAA record in triple jump with a 44-6 jump. Sophomore Kylie Acosta, who also won State in triple jump, set a new personal record with a jump of 34-11. Junior Aaron Hankerson also had a new personal record in the 200 with a time of 22.6 seconds.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Two Georgia agencies are to receive federal grant funding to fight violent crime and drug abuse in rural areas. On Thursday, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office announced it will receive $100,000 in federal funding toward the Rural Violent Crime Reduction Initiative, which will support a two-year program to increase the understanding, capacity, and access to resources to implement the initiative.
