4 wounded in shooting at family event in Minden
MINDEN, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Police say four people were shot during a family event at a rec. center in Minden. Chief McIver says the shooting took place Sunday night at the Ewell Park Rec. Center. He says one victim is in the Intensive Care Unit, another is in surgery and the third is still in the emergency room. The fourth has been released from the hospital.

MINDEN, La. – Minden police are asking anyone with information on Sunday night’s shooting mass shooting to contact them. Police Chief Jared McIver said his department is working with federal and surrounding law enforcement agencies in their investigation of the shooting that happened around 7:30 p.m. at Ewell Park Recreation Center on Harris Street.
Husband and wife arrested on warrants
A Dubach woman and her husband were arrested early Thursday morning on a traffic stop when warrants were discovered for both of them. Amanda B. Williams, 42, was stopped for speeding just after midnight Thursday for speeding 60 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone on North Trenton Street. A records check indicated a Ruston City Court warrant for failure to appear in court on a driving under suspension case.
City Council: Slight increase of water/sewer rates on the table
Minor increases to the City of Magnolia’s water and sewer rates were recommended to the City Council during its meeting on Thursday. Jerry Kopke of Communities Unlimited spoke to the council. Communities Unlimited is a Fayetteville-based company that advises communities on the sustainability of their water and sewer rates.
City Council: Entertainment District opponents speak to city leaders
The City of Magnolia’s proposal to allow public consumption of alcohol on some downtown streets at certain hours took a small step forward on Thursday. Magnolia City Council members heard the first formal reading of an ordinance to create a downtown entertainment district. The ordinance, as read, incorporated changes to a proposal offered last year by the city’s Economic Development Department.
