WLOS — Officials say at least seven people were injured in what is being called a “mass casualty incident” over the weekend in Brevard. On Saturday, high winds caused two inflatable bounce houses to go airborne with one traveling 450 feet from its original location and the other traveling 150 feet. The NC Department of Labor is now the lead in the investigation.

City of Asheville announces third phase of Neighborhood Matching Grants; applications up to $5,000
The third phase of Neighborhood Matching Grants is open for applications, bringing City investments into Asheville’s neighborhoods. Applications will be accepted from March 27 to May 27, 2022. Neighborhood organizations can apply for up to $5,000 in funds which they will then match through volunteer time, fundraising and in-kind donations.

2 Charged in Henderson County Car Break-ins
On Monday, February 6th, 2023, in the Kanuga and Willow Road neighborhoods. Following a month-long investigation, detectives from the property crimes unit of the Henderson County Sheriff's Office in Hendersonville arrested and charged Cody Talsky, 34, and Ingrid Sonne, 28, both of Hendersonville. They did this with the help of the Champion Hills Security team and the Crooked Creek Community. More charges may possibly be brought while the investigation is still underway.

WLOS — Average gasoline prices in Asheville have fallen 0.4 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.21 per gallon Monday, according to GasBuddy's survey of 259 stations in Asheville. Prices in Asheville are 4.7 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 87.7 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 5.9 cents in the last week and stands at $4.19 per gallon.
