Hickory Woman Arrested On Felony Drug Charge
A Hickory woman is facing a felony drug charge after her arrest on Sunday. 29-year old Crystal Carol McMillan was taken into custody by the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office and charged with felony possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was also served an arrest warrant for failure to appear on a charge of misdemeanor larceny. McMillan is being held in the Catawba County Detention Center with a secured bond set at $18,000.

Taylorsville Woman Remains Missing After Almost A Year
A Taylorsville woman has been missing for almost a year. The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office continues to search for 39-year old Bethany Lee Brown. She was last seen in April, 2022. Brown stands 5’10 weighs 145 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. Hickory firefighter promoted
The following firefighter has been promoted to Captain. Hickory Fire Department has promoted Eric Bartlett to the position of Fire Captain. Bartlett was hired as a firefighter in 2009. He is certified as an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) through the North Carolina Office of Emergency Services and a Level II Firefighter through the North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission. He has completed training in many areas, including Hazardous Materials certifications awareness and operations levels, Technical Rescuer, and has completed Fire Officer Levels 1 and 2. Bartlett is certified as a Level 2 Fire Service Instructor and as a Level I Fire & Life Safety Educator. He also has Associate's Degrees in Fire Protection Technology and General Education through Cleveland Community College. For the past 22 years, he has also volunteered as a member at Icard Township Fire Department. Bartlett is married to Crystal, and they have two children, Bailey and Sydney.
Taylorsville Man Facing Charges
37-year old Tod-Jaa-Dazujan Tilley of Taylorsville is being held in Catawba County custody. He was confined in the Catawba County Detention Center on Monday, March 20th for possession of stolen goods and a pair of failure to appear charges. The missed court dates were for charges of felony probation violation and resisting a public officer. Tilley was also cited for a child-support violation. He is being held under a secured bond of $6,200. A felony larceny of a motor vehicle charge is also pending. Tilley has a series of court dates scheduled including today in Newton.

Newton Woman Gets Prison Time In Connection To Overdose Death
A Catawba County woman received a prison sentence after entering a guilty plea in connection to the death of a Catawba resident two years ago. According to published reports, 28-year-old Darien Brooke Greer of Newton received a minimum sentence of 19 months in prison after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter in Catawba County Superior Court Wednesday (March 22). According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Greer also entered a guilty plea to two counts of felony contraband to prisoners.
