One involves individuals asking for charitable donations in an attempt to access a victim’s bank account information. The second involves individuals asking victims to deposit a fake check in order to steal cash. Hoboken Police are currently investigating several recent incidents where unknown teenaged males approach potential victims claiming they are accepting donations to local charities, through Zelle or Venmo, only. Police seeking women wanted for NYC subway attack
NEW YORK, NY – Police in New York City are investigating a subway slashing incident sparked by a commuter asking another to refrain from smoking inside the subway car. That request escalated into an assault that ended with a 45-year-old man being slashed with a box cutter, according to police. The attack took place Tuesday night as a southbound A train was entering the Nostrand Avenue subway station the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn. NYC woman, 38, found dead in bed inside bloody apartment: cops
A 38-year-old Bronx woman was found dead in her bed this week with injuries to her face and neck — and blood splattered around her apartment, cops said Thursday. Lissette Gomez’s body was discovered around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday inside her apartment on Cauldwell Avenue near Westchester Avenue in the Woodstock neighborhood, authorities said. The NYPD said Gomez’s death had been deemed “suspicious,” though the exact circumstances around it were not known. A 33-year-old man was being questioned, but the nature of his relationship with Gomez or whether he may have had any role in her death was not known, police said. Cops who showed up to Gomez’s apartment after someone called 911 and found her dead in bed, with serious wounds on her face and neck, cops said. She was pronounced dead by EMS. The city Medical Examiner’s Office will make an official ruling.

Connecticut Fugitive Arrested in New York
A fugitive from Connecticut who was wanted for shooting up a home in New Britain, has been captured in New York. U.S. Marshals apprehended 35 year old Luis Minaya of Waterbury in New York on Wednesday. Minaya is accused of firing several shots at his ex-girlfriend’s home in New Britain last month. He was also wanted for seven active arrest warrants here in Connecticut, ranging from assaulting police to sexual assault. Minaya is now being held at Rikers Island Correctional Facility as he awaits extradition to Connecticut, where he faces charges that include first-degree reckless endangerment, illegal discharge of a firearm, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, and criminal possession of a firearm.

HOBOKEN, NJ -- Hoboken's Emma Conway has been named to the Hudson County Interscholastic League All-National Division First Team for 2023. Conway, a freshman forward, led the Redwings in scoring with 12.5 points per game. Conway also grabbed a team-high 10.0 rebounds per game, made 46 steals and blocked 26 shots.
