Jefferson City police respond to two Monday morning crashes

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Jefferson City Police Department responded to a couple of crashes Monday morning.

The first was a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 7:19 a.m. in the 3400 block of Highway 50 West.

A black 2018 Jeep – driven by Daniel Wolken, 30, of Jefferson City was in the left lane when it stopped to talk to a pedestrian walking on the side of the road. A red 2019 Ford Flex – driven by Nicole Schepers, 35, of Jefferson City -- hit the Jeep from behind, according to a press release.

Both vehicles had extensive damage. Wolken suffered moderate injuries and was brought to University Hospital by ambulance. Schepers had minor injuries. Traffic was restricted for about an hour.

The second crash occurred at 8:22 a.m. in the area of Highway 179 and Cole Junction Road.

A 2005 Toyota – driven by Kelley Clark, 37, of Jefferson City -- was traveling south bound on Highway 179, crossed the center of the road and went into the wrong lane for oncoming traffic, causing a collision, according to the press release..

A 2001 silver Chevy Malibu – driven by Timothy Wilson, 44, of Jamestown -- was traveling northbound on Highway 179 and attempted to avoid the collision by veering to the left, into the southbound lanes of traffic but was hit in the passenger side rear door by the Toyota, according to the press release.

No injuries were reported. Both vehicle had moderate damage. Clark was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence. Clark was previously cited in municipal court with DWI on Feb. 19. A hearing was held Wednesday. A case review is set for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 26.
