CMS Women's Tennis Team Honored at White House for Second Straight National Title
The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team will attend the White House to take part in College Athlete Day, which will honor various NCAA national championship teams from the 2022-23 academic year. President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will host the event on the South Lawn of the White House for dozens of collegiate national championship teams to make the journey to Washington, D.C.

The Legendary Dr. Owen Wright - 1933-2023
Legendary University of La Verne baseball and men's soccer coach, Dr. Owen Lee Wright, passed away earlier this year, after a hard-fought battle with lung cancer. He was 90. Dr. Wright, a native of Bridgewater (Connecticut), was a four-year baseball letterman at Bridgewater College from 1954-1958, graduating with a degree in physical education. In 1961, he received a master's degree in physical education from the University of Illinois and culminated his academic accolades in 1971 with a Ph.D. in Physical Education from the University of Oregon.

Iowa softball senior Nia Carter earns All-American honors from Softball America
Nia Carter capped a historic senior season with a well-deserved reward. The Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., product was recognized as a third-team All-American by Softball America. The 5-foot-1 senior from Cali tallied a remarkable 101 hits on the season. That figure was good for second nationally, trailing only Wichita State shortstop Sydney McKinney’s 103 hits. It’s also just the second time in Big Ten history that a player topped the 100 hits mark. Carter joins Ohio State‘s Anna Smith in that distinction. Smith had 105 hits during the 2002 season. Six CMS Women's Tennis Players Sweep ITA All-America Awards for Second Straight Year
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team has dominated the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's All-America teams with six players earning honors. Alisha Chulani earned a place in both singles and doubles for the team, which won its second straight national title with a 5-3 victory over Chicago on May 17. Chulani reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III singles championship and was ranked at No. 7 in the final ITA Division III doubles rankings.
