Apathy Wins North Andover in a Landslide
(5-23) On March 28th of this year North Andover held its annual town elections. There were contested races for both School Committee and Housing Authority. Out of 22,110 registered voters only 2,225 took the time to vote. Only 10.1% of all registered voters came out that day. Over the last 3 years average turnout has been under 14%. Compare that with 57% turnout for the 2022 midterms and 82.5% for the 2020 Presidential election. This is not just a North Andover problem. Looking around the Merrimack valley you won’t find any town that averages anything close to even 20% in their town elections. Andover, which held their election the same day as North Andover, only had an 8% turnout in their town elections, even with several positions contested, including moderator.

Methuen Democrats To Elect Delegates to State Party Convention June 10
Methuen Democrats meet a week from Saturday to elect 23 delegates and five alternates to represent the city at this fall’s 2023 State Democratic Convention. A caucus, open to all registered Democrats, takes place Saturday, June 10, beginning at 9 a.m., at Methuen City Hall, Searles Building, 41 Pleasant St., third floor, Methuen. The Methuen City Democratic Committee says delegates will be divided equally between men and women, and all ballots will be written and secret. Youth, minorities and people with disabilities who are not elected as delegates or alternates may apply to be “add-on” delegates at the caucus or by visiting massdems.org.

NH driver found "unconscious" with baby in back seat, charged with DUI
PELHAM, N.H. -- A man in Pelham, New Hampshire was arrested Thursday night after police say they found him "unconscious" at the wheel with a baby in the back seat. 44-year-old Jon-Brad James was placed under arrest after local police found him "unconscious" and "slumped over the wheel" in the middle of the road on Deer Hill Circle in Pelham. Police also noticed that the baby was unsecured in the back. On top of two DUI charges, James is being charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Pelham Police said the child was not hurt and was later released to a family member.At around 8:30 p.m., Pelham Police say they received a call about a car driving erratically on Dutton Road. As officers then looked around the area, they found a car stopped in the middle of Deer Hill Circle. Officers say they then turned off the car James was driving before waking him up.James was released on personal recognizance bail, and he is set to be arraigned in Salem District Court on June 5.
