Memorial Day looks semi-wet
BALTIMORE — Tomorrow is Memorial Day, and while many had been hoping for great weather for cookouts, water day, and to remember loved ones that had passed in in combat, our coastal system that impacted the Carolinas today will bring rain to us in Maryland tomorrow. Temps will stay warm in the 60s to start the day and reach the upper 70s for some. The main bands of rain will be in the afternoon. Some could even bring some rumbles of thunder with them, but mainly overcast skies will dominate. I hope you all have a great day and can make the best of it!
Few showers possible Memorial Day, mainly south
The holiday weekend continues to be dry with just a few sprinkles popping up to our south across Maryland. Clouds have thickened up a little as we do have more moisture in the atmosphere but overall it's been a great day! We'll be hard-pressed to see any showers through the remainder of the evening with any shower chances staying mainly to our south. The high pressure center to the NW of us has really acted like a roadblock and hasn't allowed any of the rain to move northward. Lows won't be as cool overnight with the help of the clouds with more seasonable conditions on tap. Readings dip back into the 50s tonight with a light ESE breeze. The easterly flow keeps the moisture in the atmosphere around into Memorial Day, so once again we'll see clouds and sun. Isolated showers are on the table for Memorial Day with a similar scenario on the docket. The farther south you live, and especially into Maryland, shower chances will be higher. The upper-low lingers as the surface low departs early next week. This keeps the partly cloudy conditions around Tuesday into Wednesday but the shower chances diminish. With a more NE flow developing through Tuesday, temps drop off back into the middle 70s which is a touch below average. Some ridging develops Thursday into Friday and that brings a big boost to our temps. Highs surge back close to 90 on Thursday with temps topping out in the lower 90s by our Friyay! A cold front then looks to drop in late Friday into Saturday and this could bring isolated showers and thunderstorms. Chances aren't looking too impressive right now but they are looking slightly higher on Saturday. It's something we'll be watching so be sure to stay tuned for the latest. Temps drop closer to average behind that front with afternoon temps back around 80 Sunday. The roller-coaster ride continues as we progress into early next week with highs spiking back into the middle and upper 80s. We tap into the warmth Monday and Tuesday ahead of yet another cold front. This one is slated to arrive on Wednesday, bringing our next chance for showers and thunderstorms.
