NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police have released new images of the gunman and the woman he was with after a 34-year-old subway rider was shot on a Manhattan train early Saturday morning.
The victim was on a southbound N train approaching the Canal St. station about 1 a.m. when he began fighting with a man and a woman, police said.
The argument escalated, and the man pulled out a gun and opened fire twice, striking the victim in the left arm and torso.
The gunman and the woman exited the train as it entered the station and fled to parts unknown, police said.
EMS responded and transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition.
Notably, Saturday's shooting came just hours after Mayor Eric Adams and Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Friday that transit crime is declining, with a 16% drop in overall subway crime since late October.
