The weekend is ending with blustery conditions and plenty of warmth. It's been a gorgeous day, despite the wind, with highs topping out in the 70s and 80s! The warmer air is streaming in ahead of a cold front that swings through the region this evening. This front brings more widespread showers and storms along with a severe threat. The greatest chance for these will be to our north and west, where we have a Severe T'Storm Watch. This is in effect until 11 PM. Ingredients for severe weather are higher out that way, especially north of I-80. Instability in the atmosphere is greater along with more organizational wind. That is where we could find a tornado or two. A Slight to Marginal Risk includes the rest of the area for a few stronger storms possible. The biggest concern for the Valley will be the strong wind, along with some embedded hail possibly. The News 8 Storm Team has designated Sunday an IMPACT DAY. The storms should start to fade before midnight with the loss of instability. Behind this system, drier air takes over into next week with temps staying mild. More sunshine is on tap Monday with afternoon readings holding in the 70s. An unsettled stretch unfolds midweek onwards another system moves our way. A warm front lifts in on Wednesday with hit or miss showers or rumbles on the table. The cold front then looks to move in Thursday with a scattered showers on the docket. We hold onto the threat of showers Friday as a secondary cold front swings through. The upper-low looks to move in on Saturday, keeping the threat of rain around. Temperatures Saturday and Sunday tumble as this wave moves eastbound, falling below average for this time of year. Highs dip back into the 50s over the weekend, and stay cooler than normal through the first half of the following week.
