Marietta man charged with assault for allegedly hitting woman

SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) - A Marietta man has been charged with assault and battery after allegedly hitting a woman and holding a knife up to her throat.
According to court documents the assault happened in January.
Documents state Gary Newsom held the knife to her throat and later punched her in the eye and head.
