Weekly Safety Report: Fire at Marion Storage Facility, Missing Child Found Safe in Smyth County
Two incidents occurred in Smyth County, Virginia this week. In the first incident, a commercial storage facility in Marion caught fire. The building, which was vacant at the time, was located on South Main Street. The cause of the fire is currently unknown. In the second incident, a missing endangered child named Lyric Poston was found safe in Sugar Grove. She was in the custody of her mother, Mackenzie Poston, and appeared to be in good health. Mackenzie Poston has been charged with attempted abduction and obstruction of justice.

Reitzel leads Carroll runners at Marion
Davis Reitzel placed 11th out of 102 runners Saturday to lead Carroll County’s cross country team in the Walkers Run meet at Hungry Mother State Park in Marion. Reitzel completed the 3.1-mile course in 18:01 to lead the way for Cavalier runners. Ethan Edwards was the next faster Carroll runner as he came in 23rd with a time of 18:43. As a team, Carroll County finished ninth out of 12 boys’ teams participating.
