MURPHY, N.C. (WLOS) — The latest expansion at Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel has reached new heights, with construction forging ahead on schedule. The 12-story hotel addition has reached the 10th level, with sheer walls and columns prepped up to the 11th level. Interior framing is underway on levels one through six. The hotel is on track to be completed in late 2024.

FANNIN COUNTY, Ga. — There could soon be a change to the short-term vacation rentals ordinance in Fannin County that some fear could tank the market if it moves forward. Fannin County Board of Commissioners Chairman Jamie Hensley said the purpose and goal of the ordinance is to appeal to both residents and those wanting to invest in properties in the area.

GILMER COUNTY, Ga. — Fire crews are currently battling a large house and woods fire in Gilmer County. The blaze engulfed a home and the surrounding wooded area off Wolf Pen Drive. Georgia Forestry and Gilmer County Fire and Rescue are on the scene working to contain the fire.
Lee University To Host Small Jazz Ensemble Concert April 9
Lee University’s Small Jazz Ensemble will present a concert on Tuesday, April 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the Squire’s Recital Hall on Lee’s campus. The Small Jazz Ensemble is directed by Tom Hurst, instructor in commercial percussion, and Shawn Perkinson, jazz guitar instructor. The program will feature music written by jazz composers such as Pat Metheny, Wes Montgomery, Lenny White, and "Chucho" Valdes.
$100k Powerball ticket sold in Lakeland
LAKELAND, Tenn. (WMC) - Four Tennessee players won in the March 25 Powerball drawing. Two $100,000 winning tickets came from Lakeland and Hixson. Two $50,000 winning tickets came from Cleveland and Chattanooga. The Mega Millions jackpot currently stands at $1.1 billion and the Powerball jackpot is $865 million.
