Stone County Sheriff’s Office: Alleged home invader in custody
Stone County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported home invasion early Tuesday morning in Onia, Ark. According to a Stone County Sheriff’s Office release, the incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. at a Highway 263 address. Upon arrival, deputies learned a subject had allegedly forced entry into the residence and stolen various items, including a parked vehicle at the residence.
Loud ‘explosion’ sound baffles area residents
That was a persistent question on Wednesday after multiple reports of a loud boom or explosion being heard (and felt) throughout the region. The staff at the White River Now office, located near the St. Louis and Harrison intersection in Batesville, did not feel or hear any noticeable noise, but an employee off-site did, noting he ran out of the building he was in after hearing the boom.

Floral man dies after one-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 67
Arkansas State Police say a Floral man died Saturday after a one-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 67 in rural White County. According to the fatality report, Eric Howard, 45, was traveling north in his 1999 Ford Explorer in the area of the U.S. 67 32-mile marker when he changed lanes and exited the roadway to the left. The Explorer then entered the median and began to overturn.
Cleburne Co. man killed in crash
A crash Thursday afternoon killed a Cleburne County resident according to a Arkansas State Police preliminary fatality report. The crash happened at 4:15 p.m. in the 500-block of Pleasant Springs Road West. Lyle Dean Landrith, 50, of Heber Springs was killed in the crash. According to the report, a 2021 Freightliner driven by Landrith, was traveling eastbound when it crossed the centerline and ran off the left side of the roadway striking a tree. Road conditions were reported as dry and weather conditions were reported as cloudy.
