One person killed in fiery crash at I-90 Barrington Road Toll Plaza
One person was killed after a vehicle struck the Barrington Road Toll Plaza in Hoffman Estates early Thursday morning, state police said. The crash happened on Interstate 90 westbound at around 4:24 a.m. The car hit the toll plaza and became engulfed in flames, according to state police. Demolition of Northwestern University’s 98-year-old Ryan Field began on Feb. 16. The new Ryan Field is part of a $480 million donation from the family of Patrick and Shirley Ryan that was the largest in school history. The school has said the stadium would seat 35,000, down more than 12,000 from the current Ryan Field, and feature a canopy designed to keep noise and light focused on the field. It would include cutting-edge technology and scoreboards, as well as concessions with food from local restaurants, and would achieve Gold LEED certification. Northwestern will play the majority of its home football games next season at its lakefront soccer and lacrosse facility. the school is also in discussions with other Chicago-area stadiums to host games. The Wildcats have played at Wrigley Field three times since 2010, including a loss to Iowa last year on a last-second field goal.

EVANSTON, Ill. - Police have arrested an Evanston man sought in connection with a burglary earlier this year. Camden Wall, 19, was taken into custody on April 10 around 7 p.m. following a sighting by Evanston police in an alley within the 2000 block of Dewey. When officers attempted to detain him, Wall allegedly attempted to flee on foot, prompting a pursuit.

CHICAGO (CBS)-- Highland Park's July 4th parade will return along a new route this year.Mayor Nancy Rotering said the events will go forward with "respect, compassion and support for everyone whose lives were changed on July 4th, 2022." The city confirmed a "trauma-informed approach" went into the planning of events.The parade will mark two years since the mass shooting at the July 4th parade. A mass shooter opened fire, killing seven people and leaving dozens hurt.The mayor said resuming the parade will start a new chapter for the Highland Park community. The day's activities will begin with a remembrance ceremony at 10 a.m., followed by the parade at 1 p.m. and "4th Fest" at Sunset Woods Park.
