A man who jumped from the 6th Street Bridge in Los Angeles into the Los Angeles River was rescued by the Fire Department. Fire officials reported that the man climbed the bridge before jumping into the water around 10 a.m. on Sunday morning. The river was carrying the man away with the current for around three-quarters of a mile until he ended up on an embankment south of the 10 Freeway overpass. According to officials, the river was moving at speeds of about 5-10 mph, and the man suffered undisclosed injuries during the fall that prevented him from getting himself to safety. Fire officials estimated that the water was only about 2-feet deep below the bridge where he jumped.
