The 2023 Illinois High School Association Class 3A and 4A baseball state finals are scheduled for June 9-10 at Duly Health & Care Field in Joliet. Here is information about each of the matchups, including top players and predictions on which teams will make it to the championship games and who will ultimately leave Joliet with the large schools' biggest trophies.

Bolingbrook High School is leaving the Southwest Suburban Conference and joining the Southwest Prairie Conference. The move would unite District high schools Romeoville and Bolingbrook. The move will take effect in the 2024-25 school year. In the meantime, Bolingbrook will finish out its commitment for the rest of the 2023-24 school year. The Southwest Suburban Conference includes, Andrews, Bradley, Carl Sandburg, Homewood Flossmoor, Lincoln-Way Central, East & West, plus Lockport and Stagg. The Southwest Prairie Conference includes: Joliet Central and West, Minooka, Oswego, Oswego East, Plainfield Central East, North and South, plus Romeoville, and Yorkville.

Drivers were ramped up to launch their cars at Saturday’s 2023 Greater Chicago Soap Box Derby local race in Naperville. “Children who win this race will be qualified for the world championships in Akron, Ohio, in July. The children will be paired up in a bracket system for a double-elimination race. They will go down in lane one, the blue lane, and then again in the red lane and the overall time, the differential at the end of the track, the overall grade or differential will advance on in the bracket,” said Leslee Butler, treasurer of the Greater Chicago Soap Box Derby.

CHICAGO - Dozens of high school football players from four local schools had the incredible opportunity to attend a training camp hosted by the Chicago Bears. West Chicago High School served as the venue for the camp, which included participants from West Chicago High, Bloom Township, Golder Prep, and Addison Trail.

The final weekend of high school sports is upon us as the Edwardsville baseball team heads to Duly Health & Care Field in Joliet, Ill., to compete in the Illinois High School Association state Cass 4A semifinals starting Friday. This is a state record 18th appearance in the IHSA state tournament as the Tigers are looking to win their second consecutive title and their fifth overall.
