Amber Alert Issued for Missing 7-Year-Old in Maryland
An Amber Alert was issued in Maryland for Ariana Lockett, a 7-year-old girl last seen in Pikesville, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. According to Baltimore County police, Ariana is Black, 3 feet 3 inches tall, weighs 45 pounds and has black braided hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink coat and purple leggings. Police said a photo is pending.
Man dead following shooting in Montgomery Co.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — Police officers in Montgomery Co. are investigating a shooting that left a man dead. Officers responded to the 2000 block of Treetop Lane in Silver Spring minutes before 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. When police arrived they found a man suffering from trauma to the upper body. Despite trying to provide life-saving efforts, the victim was later pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials.
Quincy’s South to Close This Friday
After nine years, Quincy’s South at 11401 Woodglen Dr in Rockville will be closing this Friday, March 31. The current location is scheduled to be redeveloped into an apartment complex with a retail pad and the restaurant is actively looking for a new location. Drew Gardner, who was recently in the running for Maryland bartender of the year, will be the new General Manager and managing partner when the restaurant reopens. After 3/31, Gardner will be at Quincy’s Potomac (1093 Seven Locks Rd) until a new location is found for Quincy’s South.
Maryland offers reimbursements to victims of SNAP benefits fraud
Maryland is offering reimbursements to thousands of residents who have recently fallen victim to Electronic Benefits Transfer fraud. Maryland Gov. Wes Moore announced Monday that his administration had approved compensation for nearly 1,300 fraud claims since last week, totaling around $762,000 in reimbursed benefits. The new process uses federal funding from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
University of Maryland Medical System to lift mask requirement March 29
Starting March 29, the University of Maryland Medical System will no longer require visitors and employees to wear a face mask in their medical facilities. Speaking with WBAL NewsRadio, UMMS President and CEO Dr. Mohan Suntha said the medical system was encouraged by increased vaccinations and other positive trends to return to what he called “level green,” including the lifting of their mask mandate.
