FBI searching for Elgin bank robbers
ELGIN, Ill. (CBS) --The FBI is searching for two robbers who hit up a bank in Elgin. Police say just before 2 p.m. Saturday, two men with guns walked into a PNC Bank on Larkin and Lyle. Both men wore masks.The first man is described as Black, in his 50s and between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall. He was wearing black pants, a black jacket, black winter hat, blue surgical mask, transition eyeglasses and black boots. The second man is described as Black, in his 40s and between 6 feet and 6 feet 3 inches tall. He was wearing a black and red jacket, a black shirt, tan pants, a black winter hat, a black mask and light gray and tan shoes. Anyone who recognizes them is asked to call police. Tips can be reported, including anonymously, at 312-421-6700 and tips.fbi.gov. No injuries were reported.
Forest Preserve Wants to Bring Bison to North West Kane County
The Forest Preserve of Kane County is seeking funding to build an enclosure in the Burlington Prairie Forest Preserve to house a small herd of Bison. The Bison reintroduction project would assist in restoring tallgrass prairies and would provide natural management of the grassland in the forest preserve. Between 70% to 90% of the Bison’s diet is grass.
Canadian Pacific freight train cars derail near O’Hare
Two Canadian Pacific Railway freight train cars derailed in Franklin Park on Sunday afternoon. No one was injured, the company said, and the tracks were cleared within hours. One of the cars was carrying wheat and the other was empty, officials said.
Elgin Woman Shot, Hospitalized On Northeast Side
An unidentified woman was shot and hospitalized last night in what is believed to be an isolated incident. On Friday evening at 7:59 p.m., Elgin police officers responded to the 1000 block of Sebring Dr. for a reported shooting. Officers arrived on scene and located an adult female subject with injuries who was subsequently transported to an area hospital. At this time it is believed the incident is isolated with no threat to the community.
Vernon Hills Man Gets Prison Over “Long Con” Scams
(Waukegan, IL) A Vernon Hills man is heading to prison, after negotiating a plea to so-called “long cons.” Ricky Dugo pleaded guilty to felony theft for reportedly going to people for money, for which he would then make alleged sham investments. The incidents took place between 2013 and 2018 and were said to net Dugo well in excess of 500-thousand-dollars. During a sentencing hearing, the 55-year-old was hit with 8-years behind bars, and he will be forced to pay nearly 150-thousand dollars in restitution to the victims.

STUDENTS PAINT BIZARRE CREATURES…Pony Express reporter America Zarate finds students from Ms. Cantero’s art classes working hard during her field trip to North Riverside. “I felt that they all looked weird until the artists explained what they were, but it was fun helping them out to paint the sculptures.” She said. According to North Riverside Mall, the project is called, “Creatures of a Dream World,” which was inspired by cultural Mexican folk art known as alebrijes. You may see them a lot during Dia De Los Muertos.
