Fire at Aspen Hill Home Likely Caused by Dishwasher
A hardwired dishwasher likely caused a fire at a home in Aspen Hill on Saturday morning, according to Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson Pete Piringer. A fire broke out in an unoccupied basement apartment of a two-story, single-family home in the 14400 block of Big Bear Court. Upon arrival, firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly, and it is believed that the dishwasher in the basement kitchen was the likely source of the fire.
11-year-old girl reported missing in Silver Spring
SILVER SPRING, MD – Police are searching for a girl who has gone missing in Silver Spring. Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Kimora Neal, a missing 11-year-old child from the Briggs Chaney area of Silver Spring. Neal was last seen on Friday, March 17, 2023, at approximately 7 p.m., in the 3300 block of Gateshead Manor Way. Neal is approximately 5-feet, 6-inches tall and weighs 140 pounds. MCFRS Respond to House Fire Sunday Afternoon; No Injuries, $275K in Damage
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for a chimney fire on Rippling Brook Drive in Aspen Hill at approximately 3pm on Sunday afternoon. According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, a neighbor called 911 to report a chimney fire and crews arrived to fire showing from the roof and attic of the home. The fire started in the attic of the home and is believed to electrical in nature. The sole occupant of the home was able to escape without injury, but there was approximately $275k in damage.

Man Charged in Burglary of Apartment During Fatal High-Rise Fire in Silver Spring
A man was charged Friday for the burglary of an apartment during the fatal fire at the Arrive Silver Spring complex in February, according to a release. Rasheed Duvall, 43, of Rockville, was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary and theft of $100 to $1,500, a Montgomery County Department of Police release said.
End of an Era: Macy’s Closes Permanently Today in Lakeforest Mall

Fatal Pedestrian Collision Under Investigation in Montgomery County
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MARYLAND – The Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred at Columbia Pike and Stewart Lane. On Thursday at approximately 1:28 p.m., 75-year-old Teklu Bushen Siba of Silver Spring was crossing the northbound lanes on Columbia Pike when he was struck by a white 2002 Ford Explorer traveling northbound. The driver remained at the scene, and Siba was pronounced dead. The investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to contact CRU detectives at (240) 773-6620.
