    Springfield Police Department identifies man killed in crash near Lake Springfield

    UPDATE 4/15/24: The Springfield Police Department has identified the victim of a fatal crash near Lake Springfield on Friday afternoon just after 12:30 p.m.

    35-year-old Andrew Hendrix of Springfield died after his black Corvette ran off the side of the road, struck a tree, and caught fire.

    Hendrix was declared dead at the scene of the accident. His family was notified of his passing. SPD is still investigating the cause of the crash.

    SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — One person is dead after a crash near Lake Springfield.

    According to OzarksTraffic, the crash happened around 12:35 p.m. near the intersection of Crenshaw Road and Ridgecrest Street.

    Update on Hickory Hills school assault in Springfield

    The Springfield Police Department (SPD) says a vehicle went off the side of the road and hit a tree before catching on fire.

    The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle, SPD said. The driver’s identity has not yet been released.

    SPD said a second vehicle was hit by debris as it drove past the scene.
