Victims and Suspect in fatal Midlands shooting identified

The Army Soldier and three children fatally in an apparent murder/suicide in the Midlands have been identified. As we previously reported, the incident happened at a home in Sumter around 10 PM, Tuesday night.

Police in Sumter say, former solider Charles Slacks Jr went to his ex-wife's home and fatally shot four people and then turned the gun on himself. On Wednesday, the U.S. Army identified those killed in the incident as 38 year old Command Sergeant Major Carlos Evans, 11 year old Ava Holliday, 6 year old Aaron Holliday-Slacks and 5 year old Aayden Holliday-Slacks.

Police say that the ex-wife was able to make it out of the incident without significant injuries. Two of the children that Slacks Jr. killed were his own, the other was from his ex-wife's previous relationship.

Evans and the woman were reportedly not romantically involved and had was described as a "strictly professional".
