    Man found dead after car crashes into tree in Torrington

    TORRINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) – Torrington police say a man died after crashing into a tree early Friday morning.

    The crash happened on Pothier Road around 3:50 a.m. When officials arrived on the scene, they found a 1999 S10 Chevrolet pick-up angled on an embarkment.

    On scene, police said the driver, identified as 72-year-old Peter Jacquette of Goshen, was pronounced dead on the scene.

    In a traffic advisory posted around 8 a.m., officials with the Drakeville Volunteer Fire Department said Pothier Road at John Brown Road to Brandy Hill Road remains closed. Police could not say how long the road will be closed.
