New assistant county manager helps with workload
Don Gentry has been on the job three weeks as the new Glynn County assistant county manager and is still busy learning the lay of the land and issues facing the county. He is currently a brigadier general in the Georgia National Guard, with plans on retiring in after he reaches the 32-year mark in military service. Gentry, 60, will be eligible to collect his retirement pension after he turns 62 years old, he said.

Teens accused of string of armed robberies, assaults
Two teenagers were arrested Tuesday for multiple armed robberies and assaults over the past weekend targeting Hispanic men in Brunswick and unincorporated Glynn County. Police say the alleged assailants were pistol-whipped.

Bryan County Man Convicted on Federal Drug Charges for Trafficking Fentanyl
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Georgia, a Bryan County man could face decades in federal prison for trafficking fentanyl. Javarus McKinney, a/k/a “Jody,” 34, of Richmond Hill, Ga., was convicted after a four-day trial on charges of Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute, and to Distribute, Fentanyl; Possession with Intent to Distribute and Distribution of Fentanyl; and Possession with Intent to Distribute and Distribution of Fentanyl in or Near Schools, said Jill E. Steinberg, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia. The charges carry a statutory penalty of up to 60 years in prison, followed by a substantial period of supervised release.
'Everyone's just tired': City commission discusses nuisance properties, homelessness in Brunswick
Brunswick Police Chief Kevin Jones summed up the police department's feelings on the issue of homelessness on Wednesday with the words “Everyone's just tired.”. Person of interest sought in deadly Ellenwood shooting
CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. - Authorities are searching for a man investigators call a person of interest in the deadly shooting of a 23-year-old man last November. Khalee Phipps, 18, is wanted for questioning in the death of Keelon Tate, according to the Clayton County Police Department. Tate was found shot inside a Pahaska Court home the evening of Nov. 25, 2022, investigators say. Tate did not survive his injuries.
Gang runs Ga. prison, orders killings outside it, indictment says
GLENNVILLE, Ga. (WTOC) - Grand jurors have indicted three people in the murder of a guard at the troubled Smith State Prison in southeast Georgia prison.
