Drive-by shooting leaves woman injured in South LA
LOS ANGELES – A 27-year-old woman was wounded in a drive-by shooting Thursday in the Vermont Knolls neighborhood of South Los Angeles. Police responded to a shots fired call at 12:15 a.m. to Figueroa and West 101st streets where they learned the victim was standing outside when a suspect drove up to her and fired several shots, according to a Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman.

LOS ANGELES - Four people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a security guard at an illegal casino in the Hollywood Hills last week, according to officials. Rudy Javier Madrid, 26, Matthew Scott Riley, 29, Michael John Blankenship, 52, and Stephen Hans Dunkel, 23, were arrested Wednesday, for the shooting and killing of security guard Anthony Rivas, during what police said was an attempted robbery.

Deputies investigate deadly stabbing in East Los Angeles
A man was found stabbed to death Thursday in East Los Angeles, and an investigation was underway.The victim was discovered dead at about 5 a.m. near First and Indiana streets, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.There was no immediate information available about the man's identity. No arrests were reported, and no suspect description was released.Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.(This is a developing story. LAPD pursuit of suspect ends in Koreatown crash
The Los Angeles Police Department was in pursuit of a suspect in a suspected stolen Jeep in Koreatown Thursday. The incident started around 12:53 p.m. at Westlake and Alvarado. The driver of the black Jeep Cherokee with paper plates crashed about 10 minutes later at Harvard and 6th in Koreatown. The driver was taken into custody by LAPD.
UNITE HERE threatens hotels with ‘largest strike in modern industry history’
UNITE HERE Local 11, the largest hospitality union in the region, voted Thursday to authorize a strike over unsuccessful attempts to negotiate a wage raise with major hotels. The union counts some 32,000 workers, including room attendants, cooks, dishwashers, front desk agents, servers, and food service workers among its members. 15,000 of those members voted to authorize a strike today. 15,000 of them work at the hotels threatened with a strike, including Hyatt, Hilton, Highgate, Accor, IHG, and Marriott, along with West Hollywood’s One and Andaz hotels; the strike itself would be the largest hotel worker strike in modern U.S. history, according to UNITE HERE.

Authorities ID man fatally shot in Boyle Heights
LOS ANGELES – A man who was fatally shot in Boyle Heights was identified Thursday, and the investigation was continuing into his death. Los Angeles Police Department officers were called at 7:49 p.m. Wednesday to the 3100 block of Wynwood Lane, south of the Golden State (5) Freeway, and they learned the victim was sitting in a car when suspects drove up to him and shot at him several times, according to LAPD Officer Matthew Cruz.
