Weather halts search for man swept into river
The search for a Poinsett County man who was reportedly swept off a low-water bridge near Rosie has been called off due to Friday’s poor weather conditions. Independence County Sheriff Shawn Stephens says the weather is affecting the search efforts, but he told White River Now’s Gary Bridgman Friday morning that crews will resume the search as soon as the weather breaks.

Search continues for man believed to have been swept into river
The search continued Monday for a man who disappeared Saturday afternoon north of Rosie, near the White River. Independence County Sheriff Shawn Stephens said the man is believed to have tried to cross a low-water bridge on a side-by-side when he was swept into the river. Stephens said the side-by-side was recovered Sunday. Authorities have not released the name of the man, but he is reportedly from Poinsett County.
West Memphis police seek identity of driver after fatal wreck
WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. – Authorities in Crittenden County are seeking to identify the driver of a truck in relation to a fatal wreck from February. On February 15, the West Memphis Police Department was dispatched to the area of South Avalon and Birch regarding an accident with injuries, a social media post said. Police were told the vehicle in the accident was a motorcycle that had flipped multiple times and the driver of the motorcycle was unresponsive.

One-vehicle accident in Jackson County claims life of Harrisburg man
A 23-year-old Harrisburg man was killed in a one-vehicle accident late Tuesday afternoon. According to the Arkansas State Police Fatality Report, Bo Garrett Self died when his eastbound 2009 Ford Focus crossed the center line and traveled into the westbound lane of traffic on State Highway 18 in rural Jackson County. The report noted Self’s Ford then left the roadway and came to rest upside down in a westbound roadside ditch.
HS AD Accused of Pushing Student Faces Battery Charge
A high school athletic director and football coach in Arkansas is facing charges after he was accused of battering a student-athlete. Terry Farmer, 60, has been charged with third-degree battery and endangering the welfare of a minor following a football player's report that Farmer grabbed and pushed him, WREG-TV reported. Farmer works in the Palestine-Wheatley High School District.
